Piano Lessons
a committed, long term relationship
Everyone — from 3 to 103 years old — can learn to play piano with a gentle, Suzuki-inspired guide through skills acquisition.
I teach beginners, experienced pianists, and welcome advanced students in my Northville, Michigan studio. Lessons times match the student's age and ability; the repertoire grows to match their interests.
The studio hosts annual recitals, group classes, community service, and scholarship opportunities. Advanced students participate in adjudicated events and competitions associated with area and state music associations.
Past performance venues include the Detroit Steinway Gallery, Schoolcraft College, Eastern Michigan University, and the University of Michigan — which means the chance to play on world class instruments.
Recitals and volunteer events are included in tuition; adjudicated events require additional fees.

Collaborating to support the performer is the pinnacle of my music study. When we work together toward perfection, we do amazing things! Our best will always be enough.
My accompaniment résumé is vast, and each experience deepens my love of music. One does not earn a doctorate without playing a lot of piano, so I've played with just about every category of musician — choirs, soloists, instrumentalists, clinicians, academics, students, and professionals.
When we point to favorite events in life, they are the unique experiences. The picture above is me (in yellow pants) accompanying a César Franck cello piece on the 200-year old Playel grand at The Scarab Club, Detroit. Playel was Chopin's favorite piano!

My academic expertise lies in understanding art through the music of it's era. There are fascinating correlations between paintings and music compositions. We explore these from the piano bench with priceless insights into beloved pieces in both genre.
Presentations include full slide decks and can be delivered digitally to a global audience to accommodate any organization.
